Family Ai Workshop: Parents, Kids & Educators Together - Overture Games, Inc.
A one-hour family workshop where parents, kids, and educators experience Overture’s paper-first, teacher-guided AI model side by side. Led by Overture Games CEO Aspen Buckingham, the session opens with a quick "Real or AI?" warm-up game, then families work together to design a character on paper. The instructor brings each family’s character to life on the big screen using AI – as an image, a 3D model, and a short animated clip – so adults and kids see exactly how Overture runs its programs and how AI can be used safely with children. Adults leave with a clear picture of the Walled Garden model and practical guidance for AI at home or in the classroom; kids leave with a take-home of their character. Great for families curious about the Fall Kids program and for Sudbury educators.
Goals for the Program:
1. Give Sudbury families a hands-on look at Overture's paper-first, teacher-guided AI model – the same model used in the Fall Kids program.
2. Equip parents and educators with a clear, practical understanding of safe AI use with children at home and in the classroom.
3. Send every family home with a tangible take-home (their character as an image, 3D model, and short animation).
4. Spark conversation between adults and kids about how AI tools work, what they’re good at, and where to be careful.
5. Build community: a relaxed, drop-in setting that welcomes neighbors, classmates, and teachers in the same room.
Caregivers must accompany their child, not a drop-off program.
