3:10 PM - 3:20 PM    Middle School Pick-Up Basketball - TRANSPORTATION for Middle School Pick-Up Basketball (Spring BBall Bus)
Middle School Pick-Up Basketball – Friday Afternoon Session Registration for the Spring Session is now open. About Middle School Pick-Up Basketball This is a drop-in style program where middle schoolers can play basketball in a supervised setting without the structure of a league or formal coaching. Games are organized each week on-site. One coach/referee per court to help facilitate play. No official scoring or in-depth coaching—just a fun, structured environment for basketball. Players must follow gym rules and demonstrate good sportsmanship. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Participants removed due to behavior issues will not be allowed to return. Spring Session Details Dates: Fridays, May 2 – June 13, 2025 Time: 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM Location: Fairbank Community Center Gym (Indoor & Outdoor Play) Cost: $35 per participant for the full 7-week session Pre-registration required. No walk-ins. Rainy days everyone is inside (keep this in mind). Spring Session Transportation Option BBall Bus is available for the first 12 youth. Pick-Up Location: Curtis Middle School at dismissal Cost: $20 for all 7 weeks Pre-registration required. No walk-ins. Space is limited, and spots fill quickly.

8:00 AM - 10:00 AM    Pickleball Clinics - Improver Clinic
Pickleball Clinics Information Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It is played both indoors or outdoors on a 44-foot by 20-foot court. Created for all ages and skill levels, pickleball's rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. The Sudbury Recreation Department offers clinics at the Fairbanks Community Center, 40 Fairbank Road, Sudbury. Occasional play will also be hosted at Featherland Park 491 Concord Rd, Sudbury, MA. Clinics Beginner Clinic Beginner Clinic – Participants will learn the fundamentals of pickleball. Focus on the court set up, grip, ground strokes and serves as well as on dinks, rules, basic strategy, and game play. Pickleball equipment, etiquette, and safety will also be covered. Paddles are available for use, so you do not need to purchase your own. Improver Clinic Improver Clinic – This clinic is for players who have already taken a clinic or have been playing and understand the basic rules and fundamental pickleball skills. The focus will be on continued skill development as well as strategies for playing winning pickleball. The clinic will include a mix of drills and game play. Up the River/Down the River Playing Clinic Up the River/Down the River Playing Clinic – A playing clinic which provides a competitive game format. Players take part in games with different opponents and receive coaching and skill development – all in a fun atmosphere. At the end of each 12-minute game, the winning team on each court moves up and the other team moves down. Participants must have either taken a beginner/advanced beginner lesson and/or have pickleball playing experience and know the basic rules/scoring. Specialty Clinic: Dinks Specialty Clinic: Dinks  – This clinic will focus on shots at the non-volley zone (kitchen). Dinking technique and strategy will be taught and practiced through a series of drills, and the clinic will conclude with full games. Specialty Clinic: Third Shots – Drops and Drives Specialty Clinic: Third Shots – Drops and Drives – This clinic will focus on one of the most important shots – the third shot. Techniques for both drives and drops will be taught and practiced through a series of drills and games. By signing up for park and recreation programs early, you help prevent cancellations by demonstrating sufficient interest and ensuring that programs reach their minimum participant requirements.

AM & PM Care for Sudbury Summer ProgramProgram Description: Sudbury Parks & Recreation offers convenient AM and PM Extended Care options for families enrolled in the Sudbury Summer Program. Extended Care provides a safe and supervised environment where children can enjoy fun activities, games, crafts, and quiet time.To participate in AM or PM care, you must first register for the Regular Summer Program. CLICK HERE to register for the Sudbury Summer Program. After registering, make sure to select AM or PM care only for the dates that match your registered Summer Program schedule. AM Care (8AM-9AM): Daily Rate: $15 Weekly AM Rate: $60 Day-of Registration Rate: $20 per day PM Care (3PM-5PM): Daily Rate: $20 Weekly AM Rate: $80 - for a full 2-week session you'd need to select both weeks of your session.  Day-of Registration Rate: $25 per day Details: Extended Care activities include structured and free play, arts and crafts, group games, and quiet activities. Children must be registered for the main Sudbury Summer Program session to participate in AM or PM care. Day-of registration is subject to availability and incurs a higher rate.
